Strawberry Spinach Slush

Slushies are a great way to cool down on a hot day, and these ones are such a healthy alternative to Popsicles or Freezies. This is a recipe that we make all the time at our house, and it's easy to change based on your tastes or what you have on-hand. It's a matter of trying different combinations, like smoothies except no dairy. I swear you can't taste the spinach!

4 ice cubes
1 C spinach, lightly packed
10 frozen strawberries (or a handful of frozen grapes or raspberries or blueberries)
1 C orange juice (or any other juice, or water)

Place all ingredients in blender and process until smooth. If too thick, add a little water and blend until smooth again. These measurements are what fit in the Magic Bullet Single Shot. You would likely need to double the recipe to work well in a standard sized blender.

If you are worried about getting a child to drink a slushy like this, my best tip is to get them a designated slushy/smoothie cup - one that you can't see through and that has a lid with a hole for a straw. I did that initially with my kids and they loved the novelty of having a special cup, and they never had to see a combination that turned out green or brown. You don't want their eyes to tell them they don't like it before their first sip! (And honestly, you can't taste the spinach.)
